Who is organising the Congress?
Diabetes Congress Limited is a company incorporated specifically to own and manage this Congress. It is owned equally by Diabetes New Zealand Inc and the New Zealand Society for the Study of Diabetes Inc.
Diabetes Congress Limited has Charitable and donee status under the NZ Income Tax Act 2004, meaning donations made to the company may be deductible against certain New Zealand taxation liabilities.
To retain its Charitable status Diabetes Congress Limited is obliged to distribute any surplus generated from the Congress to its shareholders for the benefit of people affected by diabetes in New Zealand

Diabetes New Zealand Inc
Diabetes New Zealand is the national advocate for people affected by diabetes. It raises awareness of diabetes, produces educational material and supports research into treatment, prevention and cure of diabetes.
It has approximately 14,000 members supported through 39 local member societies throughout the country.
The New Zealand Society for the Study of Diabetes Inc
NZSSD is the national advisory body on scientific and clinical diabetes care and standards. Its objectives are to promote the study of diabetes and the best standards of care for people with diabetes in New Zealand. It provides the national reference source on the subject.
NZSSD is open to people involved in the care of people with diabetes. It has over 250 members including diabetes specialist physicians, diabetes specialist nurses, podiatrists, dieticians, ophthalmologists, general physicians, family doctors, community health workers and allied industries.
